Shoulder Piece Size 10 1/2” long and 2 1/2” wide.
Shoulder Piece Leather Really nice harness leather. Excellent quality and broken in to butter softness. Fully dressed and burnished around the outside edge.
Shoulder Piece Stitching New artificial sinew hand sewn into hand punched needle holes. The stitching runs around the full circumference.
Shoulder Piece Distressed Level Medium. Well broken in with an aged vintage character.
Shoulder Piece Notables Slotless shoulder piece. No strap slots are cut into the shoulder piece allowing the full bottom surface area to contact the shoulder. Hand shaped and lined wall to wall on the bottom with new suede leather.
Strap Style Western roping rein with hand-twisted braiding. The braiding is 27” long and when finished some of the braiding will be visible in front of the shoulder piece and some behind it. The braided section was cut into 3 strips and hand twisted somehow into the braid by the original craftsman. I’m a banjo player and not near smart enough to do this.
Strap Width 5/8"
Strap Leather Excellent quality with original and beautifully finished dressed and burnished edges. There are some small (<1/8” diameter) holes in each end from a previous life for a small buckle adjustment. Depending on your length and attachment points, some may be visible. They were never used and are barely noticeable. If you like this one, they aren’t worth fretting over.
Strap Distressed Level Medium. This rein has seen some action and it’s still rock solid enough to stop a horse. I thoroughly cleaned and reconditioned the leather but other than that, it is unskived with all original surfaces.
Strap Notables The 2 strap guides hold the shoulder piece tightly to the strap and things won’t slide around when in use. Includes a custom fit for length and attachment points.
