Shoulder Piece Size |
12" long by 1 7/8" wide where it will cross your shoulder, tapering to 1 3/8" on the tail.
|
Shoulder Piece Leather |
Thick, soft and supple harness leather. The shape is original and was part of a pony breast collar.
|
Shoulder Piece Stitching |
Artificial sinew hand sewn into the original needle holes.
|
Shoulder Piece Distressed Level |
Medium/low. Not sure what caused the small dark stains on the surface.
|
Shoulder Piece Notables |
Lined with new suede leather on the bottom. Comfortably curved, favoring the left shoulder of a right handed player. With the pronounced curve of the shoulder piece, this one is not a good choice for a headstock attachment. Since the shoulder piece will not slide on the strap I’ll need an additional measurement to properly locate it.

Strap Width |

Strap Leather |
Top shelf, butter soft and supple well aged harness leather. Skived slightly to level out the thickness to a heavy 1/8”. Hand dressed and burnished edges and slicked smooth on the back side.
|
Strap Distressed Level |
Medium. Very well aged but no cuts, nicks, or battle scars – just a handsome western rein strap with exceptionally nice vintage character. A pleasure to handle.
|
Strap Notables |
I skived a few inches on each end where it attaches to the shoulder piece to make a neat and flexible connection. Each end is securely fastened with a row of double stitched artificial sinew. Includes a full set up to the buyers specs for length and attachment points.
