Shoulder Piece Size 14" long by 2 3/4" wide in the middle and tapering to 2 1/8” on each end. Cut from a 15” by 4” piece of vintage leather. Hand shaped with fully dressed and burnished edges.
Shoulder Piece Leather Genuine English pebbled leather.
Shoulder Piece Stitching Artificial sinew hand sewn into my hand punched needle holes.
Shoulder Piece Distressed Level Medium. The pebbling is still visible but has been worn fairly smooth. Otherwise, the leather is in remarkably good shape.
Shoulder Piece Notables I copied this pattern from an old pulling collar and the curved shape is symmetrical so it would work equally well for a left or right handed player. If you’re a southpaw, be sure to let me know. Otherwise I’ll set it up to cross the left shoulder for a right handed player. The shape would work fine for either a heel button or headstock attachment. All edges dressed and burnished. Lined on the bottom with new suede leather.
Strap Style Western Rein
Strap Width 5/8"
Strap Leather Top shelf vintage harness leather - broken in very soft and supple. A hefty piece of leather, lightly skived to level out the thickness, with original hand dressed and burnished top edges. I dressed and burnished the bottom edges and slicked the bottom smooth.
Strap Distressed Level Medium. Used but shows no abuse. I’m not sure what caused the black stains but they blend well with the shoulder piece. And the light brown rein makes a nice contrast with the dark brown color.
Strap Notables Fits snug in the strap guide and the carefully cut and shaped strap slots and the shoulder piece will not move without intentional help. The strap guide was made with the Cowboy Tack Maker Mark I cut off the end of the rein and it keeps the rein strap centered on the shoulder piece. Includes a full set to your specs for length and attachment points.
